In the US - I want Christian values to drive new legislation only if those values have to do with Jesus' values of compassion, care, love and forgiveness.
What about those Christian values that are also claimed by other belief systems? Just because a value has a Christian label doesn't mean that non-Christians or even non-theists don't also share that same value.
Yes, there are good reasons to pass certain legislation and good reasons not to pass other legislation. Basing it on myth, legend or what one particular man 2,000 years ago would have wanted - it is totally arbitrary. Why "what would Jesus do?" and not "what would Tom Morris do?" or "what would Techno Pagan do?".

Keep religion out of my government. That applies to any religion, even my own. I want legislation based on good policy, period.
