I used to think of the immutability of claims as a bug, but I'm starting to see them as a feature.

As long as they're kept in context, I don't mind being on record as having an opinion different than my current one, especially when I can go back and vote against it. The disadvantages of allowing extensive editing of claims may well outweigh the benefits.
Then again, free claiming with pay-per-edit might be a nice revenue model.
